Report from Joe

About 1 1/2 weeks ago they moved me into emergency back surgery. What happened I had a disk that was bulging faster and faster and pressing down on the nerve that controls my left leg. The pain was beyond 10 on the pain scale. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t sit, and even lying down was painful.

So in went  the surgeon and trimmed back the disk and relieved the pressure on the nerve. But the nerve was already damaged extensively and that is where the problem lies today. I am still in a lot of pain while the nerve has to repair itself. That can be a long process, how long you say well the rule of thumb is the repair is at a rate of 1cm a week and how long is your leg? So unless it wants to go faster this may be a while. Right now I have a dull pain in my calf, my leg feels like I am on pins and needles all the time and every once in a while someone stabs me in the ankle with a knife.

My surgeon even said he didn’t know how I could have stood the pain and doubted he could have. He didn’t know the pain of being an Apple Reseller so I was ready.

BTW- I did learn that drugs like Oxycontin have no effect on nerve pain. It seams not much does. They have put me on a drug, which so far has not done much, except for a funny side effect more on that later and today doubled the dosage and added a steroid pack to the mix. I will see if tonight is the first night of sleep. Now back to the side effect, you become drunk without any drinking. It is very strange and you feel at times like you are floating around. So my daughter keeps asking me how goes the “magic carpet ride?” Trouble is I can’t remember.

Well that’s it for my report to all. Not sure when the Bird will return.

Surgery

I have developed a very pain full pinch nerve in my back that has caused my leg to stop working like it should such as walking, standing and even sitting at my computer. Seeing surgeon today and may be undergoing back surgery right away. This may restrict the bird in the near future.

Will keep you posted.

Apple self-driving car – We all know how bad Apple is at fixing defects. If they do develop a car can you see Apple telling the Highway Safety people they will get around to the fix when they do the next OS? Didn’t a few of the automakers recently try this by waiting and waiting and notice how big the fines were. Should prove interesting.
